Candlelight Nights: Art of the Mend

Join Sidewalk Detroit and Neighborhood Art School for a cozy evening of music and mending as we kick off our Candlelight Nights event series. The Art of the Mend will include instructions from local sewing artists Sarah Mark, Poppy Kemp, and Kristine Ferguson from Backstitch in Highland Park on how to artfully mend your well-loved and worn clothing items. You'll learn the basics of hand sewing, simple embroidery, patching, & darning techniques amidst the ambient music of Billy Mark and Cy M. M. R. Tulip.

Bring your own item to mend! We'll have thread, scissors, patching materials, and embroidery hoops available for your use. If you don't have an item to bring, no worries, we'll have extra fabric scraps for you to practice on.

Admission: $10 - $20 sliding scale with light refreshments included.

The building is ADA accessible with parking and a ramp located in the rear of the building. Reach out with any accessibility questions.
