Part two of the panel discussion highlights some of Detroit’s most venerable, long-term artist residents. Moderating this panel is Desiree Cooper with panelist, Reverend Robert Jones, Marsha Music, and Shaun Nethercott.
Desiree Cooper is a former attorney, Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist and community activist.
Rev. Robert Jones, Sr. is an inspirational storyteller and musician celebrating the history, humor and power of American Roots music.
Marsha Music is a self-described "primordial Detroiter" and "Detroitist," and writes about the city’s music, its past, present, and future.
Shaun Nethercott is an award-winning Michigan based playwright, author, puppeteer, and founder of Matrix Theatre.
NOW:FUTURE is a summer series of public art events and online engagements to highlight the contributions of Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients to Detroit’s dance, theatre, film, and music communities. The theme, NOW:FUTURE asks artists to reflect on their experiences and the world around them as it relates to our current cultural, political, and personal landscape.
