A STREET FESTIVAL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Sidewalk Festival is back for its 5th annual celebration of Detroit landscape and culture through performance and interactive art, featuring over 50 original works of dance, theater, music, visual art and interactive art. We shy away from traditional stages – most performances take place in alleys, sidewalks, parking lots, the roofless warehouses of Artist Village and the street itself.
Our theme this year is RADICAL MOMENT(UM). Over the course of 2 days, artists will explore the concept of radical moments and movements through innovative works of dance, theatre, music and visual art.
FOR FIRST TIMERS
Bring a chair or blanket! The street is our living room, but the couches and chairs fill up fast.
Explore! On Saturday performances are everywhere: streets, alleys, theaters and courtyards.
Experiment! Many of the art installations are interactive, so don’t be afraid to get involved.
Eat! There will amazing food throughout the festival but be sure to check out Sweet Potato Sensations and Motorcity Java!
