Eliza Howell Artist Residency Program

We are proud to announce that Sidewalk has been awarded a planning grant for the Eliza Howell Park Artist Residency Program! In partnership with the Brightmoor Alliance and Neighbors Building Brightmoor, the program pairs artists in residencies with community members.

Resident artists design and implement a series of nature based art projects and performances during the residency period. Short exhibitions of the works created are hosted at the end of each residency period. Brightmoor residents will be engaged as co-curators, builders and performers with resident artists.

The vision of the SideTrails program is to serve as a creative mechanism to bridge the divide between Detroit residents, particularly children, and the outdoors.

Images of Land Art that Inspire us:

#1-3 is the artwork of Andy Goldsworthy. The last is Cornelia Konrad. We have no affiliation with these artists, we just love this work! We plan to work with land artists and residents to celebrate the beauty of Eliza Howell Park through art and conservation.
